The largest funfair in Europe has officially reopened in England for the summer season. As the temperature is expected to reach the mid-20s in the UK over the next few days, many people are eagerly seeking a fantastic getaway as soon as possible, despite occasional spells of rain, which is typical for the region.

While there are numerous funfairs throughout the country offering thrilling experiences for both thrill-seekers and families, a visit to the Hoppings Funfair should definitely be on your itinerary. Located in Newcastle upon Tyne, this extraordinary funfair boasts an impressive collection of over 400 rides and attractions, making it the largest of its kind in Europe.
Situated in Town Moor, a vast area of common land within the city, this expansive funfair will only be open for a brief ten-day period this summer. Therefore, if you wish to immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere and enjoy the hot weather, you’ll need to act quickly.

Spanning across a kilometer of land, the Hoppings Funfair offers a plethora of ride options for parkgoers. Classic favorites like dodgems (bumper cars), a ghost train, carousel, and waltzer await you. Children are spoiled for choice with over 100 attractions and rides designed just for them, including colorful bouncy castles, slides, spinning tea cups, and mini roller coasters.
For the more adventurous visitors, there are plenty of thrilling rides that will get your adrenaline pumping. The brand-new Rocket Ride, for instance, lifts parkgoers 50 meters into the air before spinning them around and returning them safely to the ground. If you’re up for a challenge, you can attempt to conquer the G4 force of the March 5 Bomber or experience the awe-inspiring heights of the Giant Observation Wheel.

With a grand total of 42 captivating rides taking center stage this year, you’ll have no shortage of options to choose from. The Hoppings Funfair made its debut in the city back in 1882 and has steadily grown over the decades to become the largest funfair of its kind in Europe.
The funfair officially opened on Friday, June 16, 2023, and will be open until June 25th. Although you only have a 10-day window to plan your trip to Newcastle, it will undoubtedly be a worthwhile experience. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the funfair will be open from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., while slightly shorter hours of 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. will apply during the week.
Individual ride prices range from £1.50 to £5, and the best part is that entrance to the funfair is free. So, gather your loved ones, prepare for an unforgettable adventure, and make the most of this limited-time opportunity to create lasting memories at the Hoppings Funfair, where excitement and entertainment await you.
