Jason Aldean’s ‘Try That In a Small Town’ Hits No. 1 on Billboard Chart, Prompting Celebration – “That’s a Backfire Well Worth It!”

The ongoing drama surrounding Jason Aldean shows no sign of abating…

The controversy surrounding the country musician’s latest song, ‘Try That In a Small Town,’ continues to spark intense discussion in recent weeks. The song, released in May, made its debut at No. 2 and has now skyrocketed to the No. 1 position on the charts, as of the Aug. 5 update. Remarkably, it marks the first time in the 65-year history of the Billboard chart that three country songs have claimed the top three spots, with Morgan Wallen’s ‘Last Night’ at No. 2 and Luke Combs’ ‘Fast Car’ coming in third.

Aldean’s achievement of reaching No. 1 with “Try That In A Small Town” also marks his first time topping the Hot 100. However, this accomplishment was not without its challenges. The song faced severe backlash following the release of its music video, with many accusing it of being ‘racist’ and ‘pro-lynching.’ Consequently, the song was even pulled from the airwaves, and fellow celebrities and musicians weighed in with their opinions.

During a discussion on the popular daytime talk show, The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg criticized Aldean’s use of imagery in the music video, particularly regarding confrontations between Black Lives Matter activists and police. Goldberg argued that the song seemed to refer to people taking care of each other in their small town, but it failed to recognize that these folks were doing so in response to what they perceived as injustice.

Aldean found himself compelled to defend the song on Twitter, vehemently denying any racist undertones or references to race in the lyrics or video. He insisted that the song’s intent was to convey the feeling of a community where neighbors supported each other, regardless of their differences in background or belief.

Despite the controversy, “Try That In A Small Town” has reached the top of the charts, providing Aldean with something to celebrate. His wife, Brittany, took to Instagram to express her excitement about the song reaching No. 1, celebrating it as a career first for Jason and thanking their devoted fans.

With this recent achievement, Aldean’s fans and the public, in general, have differing opinions about the song’s rise to the top spot. Whether they view it as a triumphant success or a problematic development, discussions in the comments continue to reflect the passionate debate surrounding the song and its controversies.
