Taking care of her hair is a full-time occupation for this woman who, dubbing herself a real-life Rapunzel, earns a living by growing and showcasing her extraordinary hair.
Alia Nasyrova, a 33-year-old Latvian-born woman, proudly boasts hair that stretches an astonishing 90 inches in length. She reveals that it took her two decades to achieve hair comparable to her beloved fairy tale character, Rapunzel. “I started growing my hair because I’ve always adored long hair since childhood, especially the heroines with long hair in fairy tales,” she explains. Nasyrova identifies herself as a long hair model and proudly proclaims herself the “Queen of super long hair.”
Nasyrova sustains herself through modeling on her personal website, where she offers exclusive content to her devoted fans. She dreams of exploring the world, seeking out long-haired girls, and sharing their beauty as an art form. However, maintaining her hair’s magnificence demands considerable effort, requiring an hour of daily washing and a full day for air drying. Whenever she ventures outside, her hair necessitates a dedicated bag filled with 22 pounds of liquids, including shampoo, conditioner, and various hair accessories.
To keep her luscious brown locks healthy and strong, Nasyrova even engages in hair exercises on a yoga mat. While her husband, Ivan Balaban, adores her lengthy tresses, he makes an effort to keep his distance, figuratively speaking, to avoid accidentally damaging or disrupting them. “I always lean against the wall to create more space for her hair. That way, there’s no chance of accidentally harming it or getting it tangled,” he shared in a 2017 interview. “I even speak to her braid respectfully, sometimes requesting it to move a bit.”
However, having hair that sweeps the ground behind her comes with its challenges. Nasyrova recalls a childhood incident in the theater when someone accidentally left gum in her hair, resulting in a traumatic experience. “I had to cut a chunk of my hair to remove the gum because it was extremely difficult,” she revealed.
Despite her awe-inspiring hair length, Nasyrova does not hold the record for the longest hair. According to the Guinness World Records (GWR), that distinction belongs to Xie Qiuping from China, who began growing her hair at the age of 13 in 1973 and achieved a remarkable length of 18 feet 5 inches. GWR describes her hair as nearly as long as an adult male giraffe’s height.
While many admire Nasyrova’s incredible hair, it’s important to note that hair care at such extreme lengths is undeniably intricate. We commend her patience and dedication in maintaining her glorious long locks.
