Tina Turner: legendary rock’n’roll singer dies aged 83

Legendary singer Tina Turner, renowned for her mesmerizing voice, has passed away.

Rolling Stone obtained a statement confirming that the Queen of Rock’n Roll peacefully departed her life after battling a prolonged illness at her residence in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. She reached the age of 83.

Born as Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, and raised in Nutbush, Tennessee, Turner soared to stardom in the 1960s as a vital part of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue.

However, her relationship with Ike swiftly became tumultuous.

In her 2018 biography, Turner revealed, “My connection with Ike was doomed from the day he realized I would be his moneymaker. He needed to exercise control over me, both financially and psychologically, to ensure that I would never leave him.”

Although the duo achieved considerable success throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the abuse she endured became unbearable. Tina ultimately separated from Ike in 1976 and finalized their divorce in 1978.
