Tom Cruise Expresses Desire to Collaborate with the ‘Enormously Talented’ Scarlett Johansson in a Movi

While promoting ‘Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One’ in Rome on Sunday, the renowned action star expressed his admiration for Scarlett Johansson and her impressive career. Tom Cruise, aged 60, spoke with Entertainment Tonight and revealed his desire to collaborate with Johansson, stating, “I’d love to make a movie with her!” He referred to an interview in which Johansson, 38, expressed her interest in working with Cruise during the premiere of her film ‘Asteroid City.’ Cruise shared his longstanding wish to work with her, adding confidently, “Sounds like I’m gonna.”

Praising Johansson’s immense talent, Cruise remarked, “She is enormously talented, charismatic, and versatile. She possesses remarkable physical abilities as well.” Forbes recognized Johansson as the “world’s highest-paid actress” in 2019. In a recent interview with Variety, Johansson opened up about the challenges she faced earlier in her career, including facing rejection. She revealed that she had been turned down for roles in films like ‘Iron Man 2’ and Alfonso Cuarón’s ‘Gravity.’ Despite not landing the part in ‘Gravity,’ she spoke highly of Sandra Bullock’s exceptional performance.

Johansson also shared her frustration with being typecast as a bombshell after her role in Sofia Coppola’s 2003 film, ‘Lost in Translation.’ This limited her growth as an actress, as she found the work she was being offered to be unfulfilling, often being offered Marilyn Monroe-esque roles. She questioned if this was the creative dead-end for her.

During his interview, Cruise, known for his adrenaline-fueled stunts, revealed his love for the filmmaking process and the privilege he feels to be a part of it. He expressed his passion for his work, stating, “This is what I do. I make movies! This is it. I love it. I absolutely love it. This is a privilege.”
