Tragic Loss: Georgia Teen with Vibrant Spirit Passes Away Following ATV Accident Involving Wire Mishap

The tragic loss of a 14-year-old girl from Georgia in an ATV accident last week has left her loved ones grieving.

According to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), obtained by PEOPLE, Kyleigh Rampley of Rome was driving the ATV on May 26 in Cherokee County when it veered off the road. The 2017 Mahindra ATV drove up a wire on Cherokee County 102, causing it to overturn, resulting in Kyleigh being ejected from the vehicle.

Despite being rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, the teen succumbed to her injuries, the police confirmed. An 8-year-old passenger, identified as Kyleigh’s cousin by County Deputy Coroner Blake Madaris, also sustained injuries in the accident. The status of the cousin’s condition remains unclear as of now.

Remembered for her time at Pepperell Middle School in Lindale, where she recently completed 7th grade, Kyleigh participated in the cross country and soccer teams, as stated in her obituary. Although she had only spent a year at the school, she left a lasting impact on her peers and friends, being described as silly, kind, accepting, protective, and unapologetically herself.

To honor the late teen, some of Kyleigh’s former classmates organized a balloon release, a heartfelt tribute, as reported by ABC affiliate WSB-TV. She was also a member of State Line Baptist Church, where she had been baptized recently. The church expressed their deep sorrow over her loss, highlighting Kyleigh’s love for the Lord and her church community.

In a separate social media post, Kyleigh’s mother, Mallory Rampley, shared her profound grief, reminiscing about her daughter’s infectious smile, spirited nature, and her ability to bring laughter into the lives of others. Mallory expressed that she would miss Kyleigh’s daily encouragement to be the best person she could be.

Services to honor and remember Kyleigh will be held on Sunday, according to her obituary.

As the investigation into the crash continues, the ALEA remains committed to determining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
