I’m quite adventurous when it comes to trying new things—exotic delicacies, unconventional flavor combinations, you name it. However, there are certain limits, and one of them involves consuming parts of your own body.
Now, it’s not uncommon for parents to consume the placenta after the birth of their child. In fact, it gained some attention when Tom Cruise expressed his support for it back in the day.
During the mid-noughties, the renowned Hollywood actor praised the idea, saying, “I’m gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I’m gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there.”

Despite the celebrity endorsement, one influencer took it a step further by deciding to eat a part of her own knee and even fed it to her boyfriend. Quite shocking, right?
Paula Gonu recently underwent leg surgery where she opted for a local anesthetic and stayed awake so she could converse with the surgeon about the procedure. On the Club 113 podcast, the 30-year-old influencer revealed that after the surgery, the doctor asked if she wanted to keep the piece of cartilage that was removed.
Paula recounted, “I told him, ‘Yes,’ and he placed what he had removed into a small container similar to those used for urine samples. He preserved it in alcohol to maintain its condition for as long as I desired. A week later, I was jokingly conversing with my partner at the time.”

She continued, “I told him I wanted to eat it because it was a part of me, and I felt the need to reintroduce it into my body.”
Paula went on to explain that she prepared a bolognese sauce and added the piece of cartilage to it, serving it to her partner. She recalled, “I wanted to be able to say that I’ve consumed a part of my own meniscus.”

Justifying her unconventional addition to what was likely a delightful pasta dish, Paula argued that many people consume various bones and different parts of animals. So, she wondered, why would it be any worse for her to nibble on her own body parts?
I bet you’re now glancing at your partner’s limbs, imagining the culinary wonders you could create in the kitchen, aren’t you?
